64 batteries drawn at their station or place: 58 from OpenStreetMap’s substations, 6 from GeoNames by name, 9 not placed. Yellow is in the market or energised; blue holds a contract and is not yet energised.

Every line of 110 kV and up as OpenStreetMap maps it (2,045 lines, 388 substations, 3 more with no voltage mapped left out), read 2026-10-17; the highest voltages at every zoom, the 110 kV web and the substations when zoomed in. Mapped by volunteers from imagery and operators’ maps, so a line can be missing. OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL.

Ireland and Northern Ireland · SEMO, EirGrid and ESB Networks · SEMO Oct 2026 · EirGrid 5 August 2026 · ESB Networks 1 July 2026

1,049 MW of batteries are registered in the all-island market, in 28 units. 3,838 MW more hold a signed connection agreement and are not yet energised.

SEMO, the market operator, registers every unit in the all-island wholesale market with its capacity, and files 27 of them as battery storage, plus Golagh Battery, which it files as another fuel and which is added by hand as a battery: that is the fleet, both grids, both jurisdictions. EirGrid publishes every generator with a signed transmission connection agreement that is not yet energised, and ESB Networks the same for the distribution grid, with what it has energised: 44 batteries contracted. A market unit’s figure is its registered capacity; a contracted battery’s is maximum export capacity, the connection, never the battery. The Ireland page reads the same registers as tables.

Every battery in the market and in the lists

Largest first. Click a row to centre the map on its station. A market unit is placed by the place in its name, or by the ESB Networks station of the same battery where the two lists were matched; a contracted battery by its station. Positions are from OpenStreetMap or GeoNames by name; 9 of 73 rows could not be placed and are in the table only.
