What the sources say
Nivala technical board, 23 Apr 2025 §32: exception permit granted unanimously for about 2.1 ha (1.1 ha fenced) at Mehtäperä, property 535-404-5-59, about 5.7 km north-west of the town centre; 100 MW discharge power, 400 MWh. No owner's release found. Not the same as Uusnivala BESS (NTR) or Ingrid's Nivala project. CORRECTED 18 Oct 2026: FRV sold its 100 MW / 400 MWh ready-to-build "Nivala" project to Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners II; commercial operation "in the latter half of 2028" (press reports of 15 Oct 2026 quoting the release; FRV's own page could not be read). The reports do not name Mehtäperä; the match rests on FRV, Nivala and 100 MW. Owner left as the permit holder until a source names the new owning company.

From the owners’, developers’ and builders’ own releases, council decisions and permit bulletins, read by Vitreous and checked against the owners’ own words on 12 October 2026; a bracket such as “(Energy-Storage.news only)” in a field means the trade press is still the only source for it. Fingrid publishes no meter, no price and no instruction per battery, so this page carries no money: what one megawatt is paid in Fingrid’s markets is on the markets page, for the whole market and never for a named battery.
